“I pride myself on being a true business advisor for my clients, staying up at night mulling over complex business and legal issues so they don’t have to.”
Dedication and desire

As a Shareholder at Nathan Sommers Gibson Dillon, Andrew (“Andy”) Dillon advises clients on real estate, finance, and corporate matters. Whether representing a real estate developer in the acquisition and leasing of property, a regional lender in a credit facility, or a company or key executive in business organization and governance matters, Andy is known for his conscientious, thoughtful perspective. His broad experience on both sides of the deal table brings a unique level of sophistication, strategic thinking, and a competitive edge to his practice. Andy’s clients value his hands-on, accessible approach, sensible legal judgment, and business acumen.

Andy prides himself on being a true business advisor – a trusted thought partner who not only provides accessible day-to-day legal counsel but also focuses on mitigating short and long-term business risks. He measures his success by the phone calls he doesn’t receive from clients. After negotiating a complex transaction – meticulously ticking and tying every important detail – the expectation is that the document accurately and strategically reflects the deal. Managing his clients’ financial risk and liability, Andy’s goal is always to reduce the likelihood of a follow up phone call, email, or the possibility of future litigation.

An avid reader and intellectual by nature, Andy became intrigued by government and politics at an early age and in high school, earned a coveted spot as a United States Senate Page for the iconic New York Senator, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, which served as a formative foundation for his legal career.

summa cum laude graduate of Duke University, Andy earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School where he was a Regional Semi-Finalist in the National Moot Court Competition. Though a successful oral advocate, Andy pivoted and began his legal career as a corporate securities attorney on Wall Street before joining Nathan Sommers Gibson Dillon. As a member of the Firm’s Management Committee, Andy draws upon his experience in the government, corporate, and legal sectors to help chart a course of continued success for the Firm.

A proud and devoted Blue Devil, Andy currently serves his alma mater as a member of the Duke University Board of Trustees and President-Elect of the Duke Alumni Board of Directors. He previously served as a Vice President of the Duke Alumni Board of Directors and locally as the chair of the Duke Houston Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee and a member of the Duke Houston Alumni Board where he served as nominating committee chair. Andy’s commitment to the community shines through his involvement with Texas Children’s Hospital, where he serves as a charter member of the Food Allergy Advisory Board. He and his wife co-founded “Cooking Up A Cure,” an annual event which helps fund the research and initiatives of the Texas Children’s Hospital Food Allergy Program.
